win keeps money in local economy 16/04/2009 Against the current economic backdrop, it has never been more important for a business to defend and develop the relationships it has with its clients. So it is good to be reminded, that sometimes just doing your job well and delivering all you promise is what firmly guarantees your client's continuing custom.
This is the happy position Birmingham law firm Martineau finds itself in with its recent re-appointment as sole legal advisers to the West Midlands Metropolitan Authority Pension Fund following a competitive tender process. Martineau has successfully served the fund for more than nine years, advising on a wide range of legal issues and always delivering above and beyond what it promised. Martineau recently advised the Fund on its acquisition of the ASDA store in Great Barr, in a deal worth £36.5 million. It is expected to bring in an annual rent of more than £2.3 million and guaranteed income to the fund for around 30 years. Susan Kembrey, Solicitor to the Fund endorsed the re-appointment; "Martineau has always given sound practical advice and a high level of service in respect of the Fund's diverse legal needs across its nationwide portfolio and the tender process highlighted the continued quality of their offering. It is also gratifying to keep money in the regional economy and to support local business."
James Spreckley, partner in Martineau's commercial property group was delighted to retain the Fund's business; "People often focus on new ways to win business, but it is good to be reminded that doing your job well and providing innovative solutions to legal issues is still key to retaining client loyalty. And of course, being voted Insider (Midlands) 'Property Law Firm of the Year' and 'Law Firm of the Year' by Birmingham Law Society is never going to hinder your chances of winning local business." Nothing concentrates the business mind more than a deep and unpleasant recession, but this victory for Martineau indicates that doing a great job is the best way to keep a client happy and it might just be the big new thing in marketing.
