media centre: press releases
is this the property deal of the year? 30/04/2009 In a move at odds with the general mood in the legal sector, Birmingham law firm Martineau has strengthened its formidable, award-winning real estate team with the appointment of popular local lawyer Amanda Hanmore.
Her experience in dealing with large scale developments and regeneration projects is a perfect fit for Martineau and their continuing success in these important areas. She has built an enviable client list in the public and private sector, impressing everyone with her ability, attention to detail and quick wit. Her talents extend to more than just property transactions, often dealing with the major banks providing the finance for the large scale developments she is renowned for.
During the current economic slowdown many firms are experiencing difficulties and finding it hard to retain their best staff, but Martineau appears to have few such problems and is still attracting the very best talent.
John Rice, partner and head of the property team welcomed the addition of such a high profile lawyer: "This is a coup for Martineau; Amanda is a timely addition to a team which continues to attract significant amounts of work even in this most troubling of times. While some firms continue to make cut backs, the quality of the work Martineau undertakes will always attract top lawyers looking to advance their careers. It may take a day or two for Amanda to get to grips with working in such a busy team, but I know Amanda will enjoy the challenges ahead and her client relationships are sure to keep everyone busy for quite some time to come."
Bill Barker managing partner was understandably upbeat: "Although there seems no end to the bad economic news, there still seems to be plenty of people ready to deal, with many out there sniffing a bargain or two. We are busier than expected, particularly in our property team and I'm sure Amanda's arrival will add another dimension to the work we are doing - she has a great reputation and strong client relationships are central to the way she works. It should be an exciting time for everyone."
It is a heady mix, but the combination of a city looking forward, a firm on the up and an ambitious, talented lawyer can only lead to further success for all and yet more trouble for those firms trying to compete with Martineau.
