family first for martineau

Birmingham and London law firm, Martineau, has further strengthened its Family Law Team by announcing a second appointment in as many months.
Recognising that a credit-crunch influenced divorce rate has dictated a growing need for expertise in family law, the firm has recruited Marie Kilgallen as a solicitor to bolster its established team, which also saw senior associate Claire Darley appointed in August.
Mary Kaye, partner and head of the Family Law Team at Martineau, explained: "The recession in the UK has led to many relationships breaking down under the strain, and whilst recent figures may suggest that divorce rates appear to be dropping, the decline in the popularity of marriage has seen a significant rise in couples co-habiting - which in itself poses a host of unique legal issues in the event of a change in circumstances.
"We must always be mindful of individual circumstances, as no matter what the marital status, the collapse of a relationship must be handled with the utmost sensitivity, in a trustworthy and flexible manner, tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. It was for this very reason that we recently launched a bespoke Saturday service to allow clients access to valuable advice regarding these issues without the disruption of their working weeks."
Commenting on the expansion of the Family Team, Managing Partner Bill Barker adds: "The addition of Marie to the team is another significant sign of our continuing commitment to the growth of our family law provision, which already has a number of experienced lawyers providing innovative legal solutions to a range of clients."
Marie brings with her a wealth of knowledge from within a private client setting, particularly in the sensitive handling of separation and divorce requirements for a number of high net-worth individuals.
