services sector, home to some of our top 20 clients. The pace of regulatory change, combined with globalisation and
advances in technology, has brought new challenges to financial
services businesses. Whether a client is a high street bank,
a venture capital firm or an independent adviser, legal risk
management
is an ever present concern - at times competing with other commercial
drivers such as the desire for innovation and the demands of
a highly competitive market. Our specialist financial services team seeks to deliver effective
business solutions, combining first rate technical advice with
a strong commercial focus. We help to set up new businesses and product lines, draft and
negotiate client, investment management and brokerage agreements
and advise on the promotion and sale of financial products.
We negotiate and document the regulatory aspects of corporate
transactions, including all aspects of capital raising both on
and off-exchange. We are increasingly involved in commercial
hedging and derivative agreements and have recently acted for
two major institutional clients on prudential requirements and
transfer of risk. We have a core financial services team of five,
including two partners, one Birmingham and one London based.
We also draw
on expertise from specialist lawyers across the firm. Our clients include banks and insurers, distributors and intermediaries,
fund managers, sponsors, brokers and underwriters.
