Data Protection
With increasing focus upon data protection issues, both the public and private sector need to be alive to the potential damage and adverse publicity which can be caused by a breach of data security or data loss.
We have experience of helping clients to navigate increasingly complex international regulation, and we understand the interplay with new technologies (including electronic data security and website compliance).
We advise upon compliance issues such as requirements for registration; legal collection retention and use of data (including direct marketing and electronic communications); preventing and dealing with security breaches and loss; and dealing with subject access requests and complaints. Our team also assists with drafting privacy policies, and contractual agreements with data protection issues including those with an international element (such as on outsourcing, or on data transfer).
