and cost-sensitive, innovative and practical over a complete range
of property, property development, environmental
and planning issues. More than 30 property lawyers provide a complete portfolio of contentious
and non-contentious property and estates-related services. To ensure
practical solutions to specific problems, the group is structured
into specialist teams. The general commercial property team deals with portfolio acquisitions
and disposals, both freehold and leasehold, for investment and operational
portfolio holders; together with general Landlord & Tenant and
estate management work for property investors, operators and owner-managed
businesses. This team will also provide a full range of services
to residential developer clients, volume remortgage lenders, repetitive
lettings and property managers with the aid of computer-controlled
case management systems. The banking, corporate and education team provides property services
for primary and secondary banks and secured lenders; work complementary
to mergers and acquisitions - flotations, buy-ins, buy-outs and
other transactional work undertaken via the corporate
group; together with the estates management requirements of
publicly funded and voluntary sector institutional clients - including
the education sector. Supported by our planning and environmental
specialists the property development team undertakes all aspects
of commercial property development including joint ventures; construction;
planning; development funding and grant assistance as well as regeneration
issues. The team is also instrumental in many specialist property-based
projects (such as science, research and technology parks; student
accommodation and academic facilities; urban and mixed use developments)
and skilled in the "unscrambling" of failed development
